Houdan- chicks or pullets

The Houdan is a rare French heritage breed that combines beauty, personality, and productivity in one striking package. These charming chicks develop into stunning birds with distinctive V-shaped combs, full beards, muffs, and impressive crests that give them an elegant, old-world appearance. Originating from the Houdan region of France, this dual-purpose breed was prized by French farmers for both meat and eggs. Known for their calm, friendly temperament, Houdans make excellent backyard chickens and are particularly well-suited for families. Their docile nature and unique appearance make them a conversation starter in any flock. Houdans are also one of the few breeds with five toes instead of four, adding to their distinctive character. These chicks will mature into reliable layers producing around 150-200 medium white eggs per year while maintaining their ornamental appeal.  They are often referred to as the comedians of the flock!
